this project was fun, i really did enjoy it! i ran into a few kinks along the way, but overall i really liked learning FCP and loved my end result. This video is basically a still-frame animation metaphor, for a short and bittersweet romance. It came out pretty much how i envisioned in my head when i intially brain stormed for this project, which is rare and fantstic when it comes to making art.. take a looksie

So i really enjoyed the idea of this project, but I dont know for sure if im completely satisfied with the turn out of my piece. I was inspired by photographer David Hockney, who is famous for his abstract photo collages. Then I thought since this project was to be abjective, that I could pull some more inspiration from the Post Secret project by revealing quirky/bad/insecure/unknown aspects about myself on each photo in my collage, like a post card.. In theory my idea was pretty interesting, but i ran into some complications along the way and if i had more time- i couldve made it a lot better i think. I guess i would rate it a 7 on a scale of 10- not my best work, but not a train wreck either…

Pork and Beans by Weezer: I thought this video was great because it has a bunch of different popular You Tube videos in there music video. thought it was a really witty way to show what an internet culture we live in today..

Home Star Runner, Teen Girl Squad: i LOVE Home Star runner! go to homestarrunner.com if you have never been. its silly and a funny way to pass the time.. This is just a silly little bit they have on there making fun of how stupid girls can be haha.. sometimes i have a really immature sense of humor so its fitting i guess..

Leatherface for PETA..

For this project, I wanted to create a PETA poster trying to back into anti-fur/leather awareness from a different angle than you normally see. I thought this imagery of leatherface was a bit shocking so it catches your attention, but also its a bit silly because of its irony in the message so it can be a bit refreshing from the normal PETA ad. I used Photoshop to manipulate the images then took them into Illustrator to build the actual poster. I liked the idea in this project, but I finished a lot earlier than I expected, so I might not have pushed myelf enough for it. Overall though, I felt like it was pretty successful and I got my general point across.

These 3 ads are part of the Buy (Less) Crap Campaign. They are basically against Gap’s Red Campaign for the very reason that their objective is to make people realize that donating money directly to charities is more logical than buying things they don’t need from huge corporations who then only donate a very small portion.. The website’s focus states: “Join us in rejecting the ti(red) notion that shopping is a reasonable response to human suffering.”

i was really moved by this idea and thought the overall visual aspect of it was very powerful. It basically takes the same simplistic style that the Gap ads use and they flip it to send a different message. The black and white photos with the red text made the ad very direct and concise, yet strong. your eyes go straight to the text, and once you realize what the word actually says, you realize it’s not a Gap ad, but just the opposite. Then you understand the strong message behind the nude photos. Below are some of the Gap Red ads, in case your not familiar with the campaign. i love how in addition to the “crap” ads being aesthetically pleasing, they beg the bold question: “do we, as a society, always need something in it for ourselves in order to lend a helping hand?”

For this project, I wanted to do something different than the samples I had seen, but I was kind of at a loss for what really… I started out in Powerpoint just fumbling around with the stock templates until i found one that had a nice gradient to it. Then i added my own images, lines, and shapes to add some texture and dept to the piece. After that I took it into Word and explored different ways one can manipulate an image with that program. I landed on a neon lights kind of effect because it really added nice contrast and colors to the project. The piece ended up looking much different than I initially pictured it, but I’m overall satisfied with the end result.
